Squamish - a Paddle Boarder Paradise
Based on a traditional Hawaiian mode of transportation, Standup Paddle Boarding is a new multi-dimensional sport that’s one of the best workouts for developing core strength and overall fitness, plus it’s a great way to experience Squamish’s pristine lakes, rivers and magnificent oceanfront.
In Squamish, Standup Paddle Boarders are fortunate to have a multitude of glassy lakes, lazy, winding rivers, plus the ocean currents of Howe Sound to explore.
Rentals and all the gear are available right by the beach at beautiful Alice Lake Provincial Park, where you can take in simply stunning views of majestic snow-covered mountain peaks as you glide along the calm, glacier-fed waters of the lake. Or, for a truly one-of-a-kind water adventure, take a morning ocean paddle tour from Squamish’s Nexen Beach to Britannia Beach. Keep your eyes peeled for sea otters, seals and maybe even the rare dolphin or whale sighting as you take in the incomparable sights, sounds and views of the Howe Sound. Once you get to Britannia Beach, relax and enjoy a hot cup of java at Galileo Coffee before hopping in a shuttle for the comfortable return to Squamish.
Rentals and information on Stand Up Paddle Boarding can also be found at the Squamish Adventure Centre.
