The wide-spread views of Howe Sound, the Chief, and the surrounding peaks make the Squamish Oceanfront area ideal for an easy sightseeing walk. Home to Nexen Beach, its the best place to take your dogs for a stroll or breath in the fresh ocean mist blowing off the Sound.
Rustic in it's appearance and surroundings, the Nexen Beach area and surrounding oceanfront property is currently undergoing planning for a large-scale development and revitalization project. While the future promises exciting new shops, facilities, and amenities, the current vacant lands and unkept beach provide a more genuine, hardy coastal setting.
Walking Trails The Oceanfront area is also connected by walking trail to the end of Downtown (roughly 1km), where you'll find the trailhead for the Estuary Loop walking trail at the end of Cleveland Avenue.
From Downtown Squamish, drive to the end of the main street, Cleveland Avenue, turn left onto Vancouver Street after the Brew Pub/Howe Sound Inn. You will see the Yacht Club. Turn right on the next street. You will be going towards Howe Sound past industrial areas, much of which is also slated for development.
