John Matsen from the Squamish Streamkeepers will be showing a power point presentation entitled Howe Sound Herring.
This presentation will show how Ocean survival of herring and young salmon depend on abundant copepod and krill, whom in turn depend on upwelling currents for food. Here in Squamish, at the mouth of the Squamish River, the early Spring upwelling can greatly aid herrings and young salmon. The presentation will also show what the Squamish Streamkeepers have done so far and plan to do in February of 2008 to further increase herring survival.

Following the presentation there will be a discussion as well as time for questions
