Squamish Emergency Program
The Squamish Emergency Program(SEP) is a volunteer community-based Search and Rescue (SAR) and Emergency Social Services (ESS) team. Its members are from all walks of life but share a common interest in providing an important life-saving service to the public, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Search and Rescue is a crucial part of the Squamish Emergency Program with Squamish being the "Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada". Volunteer members are trained in Ground Search and Rescue, Rope Rescue, Mountain Rescue, Swift Water Rescue, and Helicopter External Transportation System.
SEP’s goal is to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and aid in the recovery from an emergency and/or disaster in an organized manner. The purpose of emergency management is to save lives, reduce suffering, protect public health, government infrastructure, property and the environment, thus reducing economic and social losses.
