Smoke Bluffs View Point
Smoke Bluffs Park is Squamish's crown jewel recreation area, a place of superb bluffy granite crags, extraordinary viewpoints, rockclimbers and hiking trails winding up the steep terrain. It is a grand place to enjoy time at rest of play: all on the doorstep of the Squamish Adventure Centre and Downtown Squamish.
From the Smoke Bluffs car park, walk up the hill to the first junction. Turn left, and continue below the crags of Smoke Bluffs Wall and Neat and Cool. A few minutes later in an open area, take the exit off left on the the start of the Smoke Bluffs Loop Trail, and climb steadily to the Pixie Corner stairs.
At the top of the stairs, a good trail takes off right to the high viewpoint on top of the Penny Lane crag., looking out of the town, the Chief and Howe Sound. Retrace your steps back down the same way to the car park.
This hike takes approximately 30 - 45 minutes.
(Thank-you to Kevin McLane author of The Squamish Trail Guide for this information. The book contains over 75 different loops and destinations. Available at the Squamish Adventure Centre and many outdoor retail stores.
